
May 20, (THEWILL) – Super Eagles forward, Victor Osimhen, has been honoured with one of Italian Football league’s most prestigious honours after a strong Serie A performance this season.
Osimhen was named the best Under-23 player in Serie A this season after scoring 14 goals and adding five assists in 26 appearances to help Napoli reclaim their place in Europe’s top-flight competition.
Osimhen, who won the Player of the month award for March, also earned seven penalties while taking none. He was part of a talented group of players that included some of the league’s best performers in various positions.
Mike Maignan, the French goalkeeper for AC Milan, was named Goalkeeper of the Year. He conceded only 31 goals and finished with 16 clean sheets. Gleison Breimer of Torino was named the best defender of the year.
Marcelo Brozovic of Inter Milan was named the best midfielder in the Italian top flight, while Ciro Immobile’s 27 goals in 37 games earned him the title of best attacker.
